Schools for children with learning difficulties place very specific demands on designers. Broad guidelines exist to direct brief and layout arrangements, however the aspirations of the individual school and of each child within it, are paramount. We create welcoming, non–institutional buildings with a caring and stimulating environment for children, staff and parents.
Our work with Barnardo’s on a new Belfast pre–school facility for autistic children required considerable research the findings from which we are now introducing into a major new special school in County Cavan.
Also broadening children’s environmental awareness is achieved through the utilisation of bespoke outdoor education centres such as the one at Shannagh–More.
