University of Ulster, Belfast Campus Redevelopment

This campus accommodates students from its highly respected faculty of Art & Design. To cater for an anticipated doubling of it’s student population over 5 years it required a major reconfiguration and refurbishment of a 1930s former retail building and a 1960s international style block. The external fabric combines glazed screens and opaque panels of differing materials, carefully articulated and layered in an informal pattern. An enclosed bridge linking the two buildings, is clad in translucent panels, provides display and meeting spaces.
